Ever since I watched Komugi a year ago, I was obbessed ever since. In fact, the anime was what introduced me to Akio Watanabe's body work, and even endeared it to me. Because of it, Watanabe san is now one of my favourite artists!
Nurse With Komugi follows Komugi Nakahara, a 17 year old cosplayer/actress who one day transforms into Nurse Witch Komugi, a magical that must rid the world of the deadly Ungrar. It's a pretty silly series, and unlike most magical girl anime, Nurse Witch Komugi isn't aimed at a young child audience and more to adult otaku. This is why there multiple references to otaku subculture, like comiket, 2ch, risque cosplay cafes and even "Puni Puni Poemy" for some reason.
One reason why i like it is really simple: Komugi has an extremely cute character design ^_^, and as stated previously, Akio Watanabe's signature artstyle makes the anime all the more appealing. If they chose a different atist to design the characters, Komugi chan wouldn't be as popular as it is today.
In conclusion, I recommend checking out Nurse Witch Komugi! Despite its somewhat lackluster plot and execution in episode 2.5 and even in some of the later OVAs, I can't say I had a terrible time. If you want a silly, parody magical girl show about otaku culture, then this is the show for you!
